Walter Marcus Pierce (1861-1954) was a rancher, educator and legislator in Oregon. From the guide to the Walter Marcus Pierce papers, 1916-1945, (Oregon Historical Society Research Library) Born on a farm in Grundy County, Illinois on May 20, 1861, Walter M. Pierce was U.S. Congressman for Eastern Oregon's Second District from 1933-1943. He served as Governor of Oregon from 1923-1927.
